JAKARTA. The Indonesian Trade Security Committee (KPPI) will begin an investigation on Wednesday into increased condom imports that have seriously affected local producers.
The investigation is being made following the demand from local condom producer PT Mitra Rajawali Banjaran, which filed its request for the process on Nov. 9, claiming that a rise in imports had caused serious harm to its business, according to the committee.
“After conducting preliminary research into the request, the KPPI has gathered initial evidence on increased imports of the designated products from 2008 to 2011, and early indications of losses faced by PT Mitra Rajawali Banjaran due to the imports,” the committee said in a statement on Tuesday.
