KPK to summon witnesses for Pelindo II case

JAKARTA. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to summon witnesses for questioning next week in its investigation into an alleged corruption case involving state-own port operator PT Pelindo II president director Richard Joost (RJ) Lino, an antigraft body official has said.

“The summoning of the witnesses related to the Pelindo II case has been planned for next week,” KPK spokesperson Yuyuk Andriati told thejakartapost.com on Wednesday.

She said several witnesses had requested postponements but she refused to give details on their identities and on whether the commission granted their requests.

Last Friday, the KPK named Lino a suspect in an alleged corruption case related to the procurement of three quay container cranes in 2010.

Yuyuk said that on that day, KPK prosecutors found two pieces of preliminary evidence adequate to name Lino a suspect in the case.

She also explained that the antigraft body had not yet determined the project value and potential state losses caused by the procurement irregularities, saying that the KPK would further examine the case.

Lino was alleged to have misused his authority to enrich himself by conducting a direct procurement of three cranes from China-based company Wuxi Huadong Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd. in 2010.

He is charged with violating Article 2 and/or Article 3 of Law No. 31/1999 on corruption eradication and Article 55 of the Criminal Code. (Erika Adindita)
