Kertajati Airport to Operate in October, Aiming to Serve 6,000 Passengers in 2023

AIRPORT - JAKARTA. Kertajati Airport will start full operations on October 29, 2023.

The Director of Air Transport of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Putu Eka Cahyadi said that by the end of the year, Kemenhub targets to serve as many as 5,000-6,000 passengers.

"So we predict 5,000-6,000 passengers of Kertajati Airport can be served by the end of the year," said Putu in a press conference on the Preparation of Kertajati Airport at the Kemenhub office, Friday (15/9).

He explained that the current passenger traffic at Kertajati Airport is 340 passengers. With the traffic shift from Husein Sastranegara Bandung Airport, the predicted number of passengers will reach 3,200 per day.

Therefore, he is optimistic that the target of 6,000 passengers by the end of the year can be achieved.

"Especially we start with the end of October then December there is a Christmas and New Year holiday moment, certainly optimistic," revealed Putu.

With the full operation of Kertajati Airport, the commercial flight service from Bandung Airport will end on October 28, 2023.

Then, on October 29, 2023, the entire flight schedule from Bandung Airport will be fully transferred to Kertajati Airport.

The domestic flight routes that are transferred from Bandung Airport to Kertajati Airport are routes that are currently served by PT Citilink Indonesia, PT Indonesia Air Asia, and PT Super Jet.

There will be seven domestic flight routes from or to Kertajati Airport including Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Batam, Denpasar, Makasar, Medan, and Palembang.

As for international flights, for now, Kertajati Airport has only opened for flights to Malaysia. 

However, gradually it will be opened for various other international flight destinations.

"We will see the overall segmentation, we will see Singapore, we will also see Saudi Arabia later," explained Putu.
