JAKARTA. The Public Works Ministry’s Toll Road Authority Body (BPJT) head Achmad Gani Ghazali says that the much-anticipated Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) West (W2) toll network connecting Kebon Jeruk in West Jakarta and Ulujami in South Jakarta will be ready during the fasting month Ramadhan.
The first day of Ramadhan is predicted to fall on June 28 this year.
“The JORR W2 will be ready before the Idul Fitri holiday [predicted to fall on July 28] and the Kebon Jeruk-Ulujami is the last section of the city’s toll networks,” Achmad said in Bogor, West Java, on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
At least 120,000 vehicles are expected to use the toll road section every day. It is hoped the new section of road will reduce traffic jams on inner-city roads.
East Java’s Surabaya-Mojokerto-Kertosono will be ready by next year, added Achmad.
The section aims to reduce congestion in the Jombang area, particularly during the annual exodus and its return wave, he said.
