JAKARTA. National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chief Lt. Gen. Marciano Norman is optimistic that the inauguration of president-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla will run smoothly.

“Insyaallah [God Willing] the ceremony will run as scheduled. There is nothing to be worried about,” he said on Monday as quoted by Antara news agency.

Meanwhile, the newly elected speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Zulkifli Hasan, said that a preparation meeting for the ceremony would be held on Monday.

“We will conduct a meeting with 11 factions of MPR today,” he said.

He said that MPR leaders planned to visit Jokowi’s official residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta at around 4 p.m. to further discuss preparations.

They will also give an official inauguration invitation to the former Surakarta mayor.

On Wednesday, the MPR leaders will meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Rumors have been afloat that the inauguration will be delayed since the Red-and-White Coalition led by defeated presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto of the Gerindra Party won MPR speakership against Jokowi’s Great Indonesia Coalition.

Zulkifli, however, has promised that he would ensure the success of the inauguration for the sake of Indonesian people.
