GENERAL ELECTION 2019 - JAKARTA. Candidates for President Joko Widodo and Candidates for Vice President Maruf Amin held a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to respond to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK). Jokowi promised to become President for all Indonesians.
The Constitutional Court rejected all disputed claims by lawyer Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno.
According to the Court, the petition of the applicant is groundless according to the law. The decision confirmed that presidential and vice-presidential candidate Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin would lead Indonesia in the 2019-2024 period.
Joko Widodo said that the electoral process that had taken place over the past ten months had become learning and maturation for Indonesian democracy.
"The people have spoken and have desires. The people have decided and have been confirmed by a constitutional path in a civilized and cultured way," Joko Widodo said, quoted from Kompas TV's live broadcast on Thursday (6/27).
"We all see that the Court is held fairly and transparently and witnessed live on television. The Constitutional Court's decision is final, and we must respect and implement it together," he said.
Joko Widodo invited the Indonesian people to reunite to build a prosperous Indonesia and advance Indonesia. "There are no more 01 and 02. There is only Indonesian unity. I will become president and vice president for all Indonesians," he said.
"I believe in generosity and statehood of my good friends, Mr. Prabowo and Sandiaga Uno. He both has the same vision. I thank the people of Indonesia for carrying out their mandate to become president, and we will do our best," he added.
