JAKARTA. Indonesia would strengthen its role in four upcoming international summits, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said on Saturday.
Jokowi departed to Turkey to attend the G20 Summit in Antalya, Turkey, on Saturday morning.
Besides Turkey, Indonesia is also set to attend an APEC summit in the Philippines, ASEAN Summit in Malaysia and the COP21 UNCCC in Paris, France, this month.
"As one of a large nations of the world, Indonesia's presence, voice and role is very important at the four summits," he said in a press statement.
Jokowi said he was attending the G20 Summit event it was a very important meeting amid the global challenges marked by global finance market volatility and commodity prices.
The summit's theme this year is Ensuring Inclusive and Robust Growth through Collective Action.
Reiterating previous statements at the Asian-Africa Summit in April, he said that Indonesia would push for global financial reform.
"We also want to keep pushing for sustainable global economic growth and a just economic system," he said at a press conference prior to taking off to Turkey on Saturday morning.
Jokowi said Indonesia would also stress the importance of renewable energy sources as an alternative to meet energy demand.
Moreover, as a country with largest Muslim population in the world, Jokowi would also talk about the country's experience of diversity.
"Indonesia will give examples on how to build harmony between Islam and democracy," he said.
The president will also have bilateral meetings with several state leaders on the sidelines of the event.
First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi, State Secretary Pratikno and Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro are accompanying the President on the trip.
The delegation is scheduled to return to Indonesia on Monday.
