NEW NORMAL - JAKARTA. The status of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in the DKI Jakarta area is still being extended, but this June will be a transition period before moving towards a new normal era.

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained, in general conditions Jakarta had improved since there was a first case of the corona virus. But there are still a number of areas with red status.

"In general, it is already green and yellow, but there are areas that are still red, because it is still a PSBB status. However, on the other hand we have begun to make the transition. The transition from massive social restrictions to safe, healthy and productive conditions," Anies said, Thursday (4/6).

Anies said there was no set time in this transition period. This transition period ends when all indicators have shown improvement or are stable.

"This transition period starts tomorrow until it is finished. Did not mention how long because we have to rely on the figures of all indicators. If the stable is ended until June, if not, we will extend the transition period," explained Anies.

Anies explained, in this transition period, socio-economic activities can be done in stages. However, there are still limits that must be obeyed.

He explained, the first phase of this transition period would begin with easing, i.e. only for activities that have large benefits for the community and the effects of controlled risk. "Hopefully the first phase will be completed by the end of this June," said Anies.

If during the month of June 2020 there were no significant positive surge in cases or other indicators showing improvement, then the second phase or broader easing will be implemented.

Even though it has entered a transition period, Anies said that all sanctions for violating existing regulations are still in force and continue to be enforced.

Anies hopes, in this transition period, the people of Jakarta, offices and every line of business will still be disciplined in implementing the rules and following the Covid-19 health protocol.

Need commitment

DPD Chairman of the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (HIPPI) of DKI Jakarta Sarman Simanjorang said, during this transition period it is a breath of fresh air for business people and workers so that the economic wheels start to turn slowly and the laid-off workers can start active again.

"Mall managers and trade centers, even though they are active on June 15, can use this time to prepare facilities and infrastructure to support health protocols and also to consolidate internal work hours for employees and protocol standards for visitors to services," he said.

With the opening of various trade centers, the stretching of the economy in Jakarta began to be excited because as a service city, the trade sector became one of the contributors to economic growth in Jakarta. "The business world will in principle be ready to implement the easing policy in DKI Jakarta," he said.

Employers are committed to supporting whatever government policy. Employers are also ready to carry out efforts to accelerate the recovery of the Indonesian economy. Only they asked, supervision, socialization and patrol of government officials must continue to run.
