Israeli Strikes Kill at Least 42 in Gaza

MIDDLE EAST - CAIRO. On Saturday, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 42 people in Gaza City, according to the Hamas-run government media office. Ismail Al-Thawabta, the office's director, reported that an Israeli attack on houses in Al-Shati, one of Gaza's historic refugee camps, resulted in 24 fatalities, while another strike in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood killed 18 Palestinians.

The Israeli military acknowledged the strikes, stating that fighter jets targeted two Hamas military infrastructure sites in Gaza City, promising further details soon. Hamas did not comment on Israel's claims about targeting military infrastructure but accused Israel of attacking civilians, vowing retaliation.
