JAKARTA. PT Pertamina Integrated Supply Chain (ISC Pertamina) is preparing to hold a tender for crude oil and petroleum-based fuel imports this month.
Preparations are still ongoing, including the setting of the rules for the tender, ISC Pertamina senior vice president Daniel Purba said on Friday.
“We are still preparing everything, including the procedures at Pertamina. Hopefully, it can start this month,” he said as quoted by Antara news agency, adding that the transparency and integrity of the import process would be assured.
In line with a recommendation from the government’s oil and gas reform team, David noted that the ISC offered an opportunity to all parties, including credible traders, to participate in the tender.
“If suppliers can directly supply, then why should we use a broker? This will certainly reduce supply chains and increase efficiency,” he said.
Tender participants will be thoroughly screened by the ISC to ensure their credibility and integrity as well as to ascertain whether they have the required financial capacity, according to David. “The management will be improved, so that rent seekers may not take part,” he added.
The oil and gas reform team of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has recommended to strip oil import power from Pertamina Energy Trading Ltd. (Petral), as parent company Pertamina will carry out tender and procurement activities through its ISC unit. Petral imports 8 to 10 million barrels of fuel oil a month and 10 million barrels of crude a month for Pertamina.
