Beef consumption has decreased by nearly 16% this year in Argentina, a country where beef has always been a fundamental part of the social fabric, alongside soccer and mate tea. Many Argentine homes feature in-built "parrilla" grills where families gather. Steakhouses are common on street corners around Buenos Aires, and people even congregate around makeshift barbecues for a taste of beef, whether at construction sites or protests.
