CORPORATE ACTION - JAKARTA. PT Indosat Ooredoo Tbk (ISAT) targets to build 4,300 to 4,700 units of base transceiver stations (BTS) next year. ISAT has included the expansion plan in the design of ISAT funding in 2019.
Indosat Managing Director Chris Kanter said, even though the cellular telecommunications industry is facing a sluggishness, Indosat is committed to continuing to improve through strengthening and expanding more massive networks. "Next year, we will build 4,300 to 4,700 BTS," he told KONTAN last weekend.
Regarding funding, Chris was reluctant to say the numbers for sure. However, the network expansion plan is included in the design of Indosat funding next year. "We have budgeted and will expand in 2019," he said.
Indosat Turina Farouk Group Head of Corporate Communications added, Indosat is building more 4G BTS which reaches 90% of the total BTS. Unfortunately, Turina did not want to divulge information about the distribution of expansion areas. Currently, Indosat has around 64,000 BTS. Of these, 9,000 BTS are 4G BTS.
