Indonesia's June inflation rate slows

MACROECONOMICS - JAKARTA. Indonesia's annual inflation rate slowed in June from a month earlier and remained within the central bank's target, but was slightly faster than expected, data from the statistics bureau showed on Monday.

The annual inflation rate came in at 3.28% last month, the bureau said, decelerating from May's 3.32%, but was quicker than the median forecast in a Reuters survey of 3.18%.

Bank Indonesia targets inflation at 2.5-4.5% for 2019.

The annual core inflation rate, which excludes government-controlled and volatile food prices, surprisingly accelerated to 3.25% in June. Analysts in the poll had expected a rate of 3.12%, the same as in May.
