OIL AND GAS - JAKARTA. The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) revealed that the national oil lifting as of December 31, 2023, reached 612,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).

This was revealed after monitoring the oil lifting digitally at several points through the Integrated Operation Center (IOC) room owned by SKK Migas on December 31, 2023.

“We are grateful that towards the end of the year, SKK Migas together with the Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) were able to coordinate well so that work programs could be implemented as planned, this good achievement is to get a high entry level at the beginning of the year as initial capital to achieve the 2024 state budget target,” explained the Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto, in a press release, Friday (5/1).

Dwi continued, the presence of SKK Migas management in supervising lifting towards the end of 2023 shows a commitment to continue optimizing national oil and gas lifting.

“End of year lifting is not just an achievement of production figures, but also reflects precision and sincerity in maintaining operations and the quality of the upstream oil and gas industry,” he said.

Dwi added that SKK Migas greatly benefits from the presence of the IOC room, this shows that digitalization has been applied in the upstream oil and gas industry. Supervision of lifting through the IOC room is considered to increase efficiency in supervising KKKS operations and lifting activities.

Not only focusing on the achievements of 2023, SKK Migas has allocated great attention to larger exploration and investment programs for 2024.

Dwi affirmed, the investment planned for this year will exceed the achievements of the previous year. This marks the commitment of SKK Migas in driving the upstream oil and gas industry from the beginning of the year to achieve ambitious targets.

“One of the main focuses in 2024 is exploration activities. We will make continuous efforts in finding new reserves. Not long ago, major discoveries in Geng North and South Andaman have registered themselves as a giant discovery in 2023, this encourages the spirit of exploration that will continue to be carried out in 2024,” Dwi concluded.
