Indonesian Vaccine Producer, Bio Farma Sends 10 Million Doses Vaccine to Afghanistan

AFGHANISTAN - JAKARTA. Bio Farma is providing 10 million doses of bOPV (bivalent oral polio vaccine) for the vaccine grant program from the LDKPI Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia to the people of Afghanistan.

This program is carried out by Bio Farma the parent of the State-Owned Pharmaceutical Holding Company that supports the Government's steps to maintain global health resilience. This aid was released on March 7, 2024, at Soekarno Hatta Airport.

The symbolic release of aid was carried out by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi.

Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi stated that Indonesia will always be ready to contribute in addressing humanitarian issues in the world. The Polio Vaccine Grant produced by Bio Farma is part of Indonesia's commitment to the people of Afghanistan.

"God willing, the benefits will be many and can be directly felt by the people of Afghanistan who need it. Indonesia shows that we are ready to contribute to humanitarian issues," said Retno, in an official statement, on Wednesday (13/3).

On that occasion, the Medical Director and Institutional Relations of Bio Farma, Sri Harsi Teteki added, that the provision of bOPV vaccines to the people of Afghanistan is a form of Bio Farma's commitment to support global health.

"We hope that our vaccine production can be well received by the people of Afghanistan and glorify the nation's name through the distribution of our products," revealed Sri Harsi.

The bOPV vaccine is the most commonly used type of vaccine in the fight against polio.
