PALM OIL - NUSA DUA. The Indonesian government is considering a plan to set up a total of 600,000 hectares (1.48 million acres) of new palm oil plantations starting next year in a bid to increase production, a government official said on Thursday.
Indonesia, the world's largest palm oil producer, has faced stagnation in palm oil output due to ageing trees, while domestic demand, including for biodiesel, increased.
