JOKOWI - BOGOR. President Joko Widodo firmly stated that Indonesia currently needs US dollars to improve the national economy. He asked the Ministry and Institution (K/L) to be serious in overcoming this problem.

"The country needs dollars now. I don't want to keep doing meetings without good implementations," President said in a limited cabinet meeting with the economic ministers at the Presidential Palace of Bogor on Tuesday (31/7).

President said the government is currently discussing a policy strategy to strengthen foreign exchange reserves in order to increase Indonesia's economic resilience in the face of global economic uncertainty.

President asked for two main things that should get extra attention, which is control of import and export increase. "In the previous meeting I asked for the mandatory use of biodiesel to run immediately, I ask for updates because the data I received potentially made huge savings," said President, Tuesday (31/7).

The ministers who attended this meeting include State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Rini Soemarno, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut B. Panjaitan, and Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution.

Acting President Director Pertamina Nicke Widyawati and President director of state utility company PLN Sofyan Basir also attend this meeting. (Translator: Barratut Taqiyyah Rafie)
