JAKARTA. PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) expects to sell 100,000 vehicles in Indonesia this year on growing demand. If realized, the target would mark a 44 percent increase over 69,320 vehicles sold last year.
HPM marketing and aftersales chief Jonfis Fandi said on Wednesday that the local automotive market continued to grow. “It is supported by several factors, including the country’s remarkable economic growth, positive interest rates and an increasing trend of small and fuel-efficient cars,” he said.
In a statement, Honda said its Honda Brio, launched in August, contributed 8,002 units to last year’s sales.
The national car sales are expected to reach 1.2 million this year, up from 1.1 million last year.
Jonfis said that HPM had increased existing annual production capacity to 80,000 units, up from 60,000, to meet demand, and was developing a second factory to boost its annual production to 200,000 units. (Raras Cahyafitri/ The Jakarta Post)
