RETAIL MODERN - JAKARTA. PT Hero Supermarket Tbk (HERO) with PT Archipelago Property Development started a groundbreaking construction of the second IKEA outlet in the Jakarta Garden City area, Cakung, East Jakarta.

Patrik Lindvall, President Director of HERO, said that the IKEA second outlet is still targeting the family market by providing all household product needs. "However, IKEA only sells products that suit the needs of East Jakarta people," he said Wednesday (11/7).

IKEA will build these outlets on an area of 3.7 hectares (ha) with a building area of 89,000 square meters (m²). "This project is a collaboration with the sister company where Archipelago will provide and build the place. Meanwhile, IKEA will only pay the rent," he said.

Unfortunately, Patrik was reluctant to explain in detail about the value of the outlet's investment. He said the investment of a company does not see the value of investment alone, but also the effort to meet the needs of the community.

The IKEA second outlet will provide 1,000 m² of land that serves to empower Indonesian MSMEs. "The concept of building outlets this time is a little different. We will present MSME shops and create jobs so that the people of Indonesia, especially the community of East Jakarta, can take advantage of our outlets," he said.

The IKEA second outlet will also provide a restaurant with an Indonesian menu and children's playground. IKEA predicts the construction of outlets will be completed in October 2019. (Translator: Barratut Taqiyyah Rafie)
