COVID-19 - JAKARTA. The government is urging all citizens to increase their vigilance against Covid-19 at the end of 2023 by strictly and disciplinedly implementing health protocols.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that Covid-19 cases have been on the rise again in recent weeks.

By implementing health protocols, it is hoped that the activities of the community, especially tourists at tourism destinations and creative economy centers, can run well and have a positive impact on the economic recovery.

"To face Covid-19 so that it does not impact tourism activities at the end of the year or the creative economy. Let's carry out health protocols as before. During the new normal, we learned about hand washing, wearing masks, especially if there are people around us who are unwell, and complete our vaccine doses. That's what I ask of not only tourists but all stakeholders in tourism and the creative economy," he said.

The Ministry of Transportation projects that tourist mobility at the end of 2023 can reach 107 million movements. This number is up 144 percent compared to 2022.

"For that, we need to be careful, vigilant. We remain optimistic that the tourism and creative economy sectors can bring about our economic recovery," said Sandiaga.

The public is also advised not to travel abroad as a preventive measure against the spread of Covid-19. And choose domestic destinations as a holiday option at the end of 2023 to encourage the movement of domestic tourists, which until now has only reached 688.78 million trips.
