FIFA U-17 World Cup Opening Ceremony is Held at Gelora Bung Tomo Surabaya

FIFA - JAKARTA. The International Football Federation FIFA has determined the opening and closing venues for the U-17 World Cup 2023 or FIFA World Cup U-17 Indonesia 2023.

The venue determined by FIFA for the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup U-17 is not the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in North Jakarta or the Manahan Stadium Solo Central Java.

FIFA has determined the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, in Surabaya East Java as the venue for the opening ceremony of the U-17 World Cup 2023.

The Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium is currently the home base of the Persebaya Surabaya club and will be the home base of the U-17 Indonesian National Team in the Group A FIFA World Cup U-17 Indonesia 2023.

The opening of the FIFA World Cup U-17 Indonesia 2023 will be held in a grand manner which is currently in preparation. The opening of the FIFA World Cup U-17 will be a symbol of the grand tournament in Indonesia.

The local committee or Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will hold the opening of the FIFA Worldcup U-17 as interesting as possible to invite the enthusiasm of football lovers in the city of Heroes and its surroundings.

The FIFA World Cup U-17 celebration event will take place for 12 minutes before the duel of the Indonesian U-17 National Team against Ecuador.

The design of the opening event of the FIFA Worldcup U-17 Indonesia will be worked on as interestingly as possible with the entertainment that will appear.

Erick Thohir, Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) who is also the Chairman of the LOC FIFA Worldcup U-17 Indonesia, emphasized that the opening ceremony of the FIFA Worldcup U-17 Indonesia will be interesting because it will be the first symbol in the history of Indonesia hosting the World Cup.

"Even though it's U-17 level, for Indonesia this is the World Cup, so it must be festive and unforgettable," he said.

The Young Garuda National Team will play their first match against Ecuador. The match between the two teams will take place on Friday (10/11) with a kick-off at 19.00 WIB.

In the next duel, the team coached by Bima Sakti will face Panama on Monday (13/11).

The opening match that pits Ecuador against Erick is crucial.

PSSI hopes that Surabaya football lovers can fill the Group A qualifying matches involving Indonesia.

The fanaticism of Indonesian football lovers is needed to provide a moral boost for the Young Garuda players.

"The support of the supporters will mean a lot to our national team. We are currently building the team's mental courage to be able to face any opponent," Erick said.

The FIFA World Cup U-17 tournament in Indonesia this year will be the 19th edition of the U-17 World Cup which was first held in 1985.

Indonesia is the only contestant country that is a debutant country. A total of 24 countries are competing in the final round of the FIFA World Cup U-17.

Previously, the International Football Federation FIFA officially announced the schedule of the FIFA U-17 Worldcup 2023 matches in Indonesia in November 2023.
