JAKARTA. Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Faisal Basri says that he will use the Rp 16.5 billion (US$1.74 million) he got from selling his house to fund his campaign and to buy a new houses.
After selling his house at Jl. Ciasem III No. 10 in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, Faisal said that he had bought two new houses, one at Jl. Cibitung for Rp 8.7 billion and another at Jl. Ciomas for Rp 4.3 billion.
Right now, Faisal is staying in a rental home. "I have to pay Rp 408 million for two years," he said on Thursday.
Faisal's housing report disclosure is part of an election commission (KPUD) requirement for all Jakarta gubernatorial candidates. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is working with the KPUD to verify how much wealth each candidate owns.
Faisal Basri, along with running mate Biem Benyamin, is one of two independent tickets for the upcoming Jakarta gubernatorial elections, the other being Hendardji Soepandji and Ahmad Riza Patria.
They will compete with four other tickets namely, incumbent Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo and running mate Nachrowi Ramli, Hidayat Nur Wahid and economist Didik J. Rachbini, Surakarta Mayor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and Nono Sampono. (The Jakarta Post)
