JAKARTA. In a bid to boost city performance and accelerate budget absorption, Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat is set to inaugurate 226 middle-to high-ranking civil servants at City Hall on Thursday.
Eighteen high-ranking civil servants, including agency heads, mayors and city secretary assistants will be transferred to different posts.
Included in that list are Jakarta Social Affairs and Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD Jakarta) head Husein Murad, who will serve as North Jakarta mayor, and South Jakarta Deputy Mayor Irmansyah, who will serve as the Thousands Islands regent.
City Secretary Saefullah added that 208 civil servants, consisting of 62 echelon III and 146 echelon IV officials, would fill new positions following the retirement of their predecessors.
“The governor hopes for the acceleration [of city projects] until the end of his tenure in October,” Saefullah said as quoted by kompas.com.
He added that the transfer aimed to place civil servants in positions that were in line with their skills.
Saefullah said the transfers had been approved by the Home Affairs Ministry.
