Delayed and Penalized, Freeport's Copper Smelter Now Enters Operational Phase

FREEPORT - GRESIK, Indonesia's mining industry is taking a significant step forward. On Thursday (27/6), PT Freeport Indonesia initiated operations of its copper smelter in the JIIPE Industrial Zone, Gresik, East Java.

The presence of this copper refinery, occupying 100 hectares in a special economic zone of 3,000 hectares, is of great importance. The investment value reaches US$ 3.7 billion or approximately IDR 58 trillion.
