JAKARTA. PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) plans to build a new factory in East Karawang, West Java, in the first half of this year, with a total investment worth Rp 2.1 trillion (US$230 million).

ADM president director Sudirman MR on Wednesday said the factory would be designed to produce 100,000 vehicles a year.

"It will increase our current capacity of 330,000 units to 400,000 units per year," he said at a press conference in Jakarta.

Sudirman said the 70,000-square meter facility was expected to commence operation by the end of 2012 and supply vehicles for domestic needs as well as for export. (The Jakarta Post)
