NEW DELHI - The political alliance led by India's Bharatiya Janata Party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is projected to secure a majority in the general elections that concluded on Saturday, June 1, according to a summary of poll results broadcasted by NDTV news channel.
The summary of two polls suggests that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the ruling party in India, could win over 350 seats in the lower house of parliament, which consists of 543 members. To put it into perspective, 272 seats are required to secure a simple majority or to lead the government.
