Bekasi-Cikarang commuter line to operate in Oct

TRANSPORTATION BUSINESS - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), previously known as PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), is set to kick off the operation of a commuter line serving Bekasi–Cikarang in West Java in October.

"Probably in the near future, we will operate the route. I do not yet know the exact date,” said PT KCI president director Muhammad Fadhil on Wednesday.

Fadhil further explained that PT KCI teamed up with officials from the Transportation Ministry and that PT Kereta Api Operation Region I Jakarta conducted a field examination to map out stations along Bekasi and Cikarang.

From that, he said, the officials will decide which stations must be renovated.

"We are currently focusing on the track along Jatinegara, East Jakarta, to Cikarang. There are seven stations,” he said, adding that the revitalization work was funded by PT KAI and from the state budget.

“Funds from PT KAI were around Rp 800 billion (US$60.2 million),” he said, without disclosing the amount of funds from the state budget.
