Basarnas ensures Lion Air crashes in Karawang waters

PT LION MENTARI AIRLINES (LION AIR) - JAKARTA. National Search and Aid Agency (Basarnas) confirmed that Lion Air JT 610 aircraft crashed on Monday (10/29/2018). Previously, the plane with the Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang route had lost contact.

"Based on the information we obtained, we confirmed that Lion Air's plane crashed," Basarnas Public Relations Yusuf Latif told Kompas.com on Monday (10/29) morning as quoted by Kompas.com.

According to him, the plane crashed in waters near the Karawang area, West Java. "The plane crashed in the Karawang area, the number of passengers is unknown," he added.

The Lion Air plane departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Pangkal Pinang at 06.20 WIB. The plane disappeared from the radar at 06.33 WIB. (Translator: Barratut Taqiyyah Rafie)
