POLITIC - JAKARTA. Bahlil Lahadalia, the Chairman of the Golkar Party, has announced his intention to appoint the party's executive board and advisory council.

This statement was made in response to questions about whether he would choose President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as the Chairman of the Golkar Party Advisory Council at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday (21/8/2024).

"As for the question of who will be on the advisory council, wait for the main date. Tomorrow I will announce who the chairman of the advisory council is," said Bahlil.

As the Chairman of Golkar, Bahlil also has the authority as the formation chairman to select the party's board members.

"The decision in the National Congress was indeed for the advisory council, the ethics council, and then the honor council to be given authority to the chairman as the formation chairman to choose," he said.

Recently, there have been rumors that President Jokowi will become the Chairman of the Golkar Party Advisory Council.

This issue resurfaced during the Golkar National Congress after initially emerging in early 2024.

Golkar appointed Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia as the sole chairman and formation chairman.

Golkar Party politician Ali Mochtar Ngabalin previously revealed that there was an aspiration to make President Joko Widodo the Chairman of the Golkar Party Advisory Council for 2024-2029.

Ngabalin stated that this aspiration developed from Golkar administrators at the regional level during the Golkar Party's XI National Congress held on Tuesday (20/8/2024).

"In this forum too, yes, this is now the aspiration that is continuously developing and good from the regions in this National Congress forum is asking for Mr. Jokowi's willingness to become the Chairman of the Golkar Party Advisory Council for 2024-2029," said Ngabalin at the Jakarta Convention Center on Tuesday night (20/8/2024).

"Agree or disagree, that's a matter for later," he said. Ngabalin stated that Golkar would consider all developing aspirations.
