BANKING - JAKARTA. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BRI) has once again set a performance record throughout 2023. In a one-year period, this red-plate bank recorded a consolidated net profit of IDR 60.4 trillion.

This profit record is the highest ever recorded by BRI in its history. The highest profit previously was recorded in 2022, reaching IDR 51.4 trillion.

Based on the financial report published (31/1), the profit of this bank, which focuses on the common people, is supported by an increase in net interest income recorded at IDR 135.18 trillion. The previous year, BRI's net interest income was only IDR 124.59 trillion.

Not only that, BRI's non-interest income also increased by about 12.61% year-on-year (YoY) to IDR 53.29 trillion. The largest contribution came from the commission and administration posts reaching IDR 20.74 trillion.

On the other hand, BRI's profit was also held back by an increase in the Allowance for Impairment Losses (CKPN) in the 2023 period. BRI's CKPN increased by about 7.81% YoY to IDR 29.52 trillion.

From the credit distribution side, BRI was able to record credit growth of 11.2% to IDR 1,266.4 trillion. This growth is slightly higher than the industry-wide credit of about 10.4% YoY.

As a result, the assets of this bank, which is the parent of the ultra-micro holding, are recorded as increasingly jumbo, reaching IDR 1,965 trillion. The increase in assets achieved by BRI reached about 5.36% YoY.

At a time when credit growth is able to grow well, it seems that the shadow of tight liquidity also occurs at BRI. Considering, Third Party Funds (DPK) BRI only grew mini 3.85% YoY to IDR 1,358.32 trillion.

The deposit instrument grew the fastest from IDR 435.48 trillion to IDR 484.26 trillion. Meanwhile, the current account instrument decreased from IDR 349.76 trillion to IDR 346.12 trillion.

This is also reflected in the Loan Deposit Ratio (LDR) ratio which increased to 84.2%. In the previous year, BRI's LDR was recorded at 79.17%.
