GRAFT CASE - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained an auditor from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for allegedly accepting a big bike as bribe.
The auditor, identified as SK, was alleged to have received a gift of a Harley Davidson from individuals within the toll road operator company PT Jasa Marga, in return for his service in ignoring financial irregularities at the state-owned company.
"The suspected BPK auditor was assigned to audit Jasa Marga and he found irregularities and then he asked for a gift. A Harley Davidson bike," a source within the KPK said as quoted by tempo.co.
KPK investigator moved to arrest the suspect on Wednesday.
Contacted separately, BPK spokesperson Yudi Ramdan Budiman said that the auditor in question had been subject to an internal probe since Sept. 5 this year.
"We have conducted a probe starting Sept. 5. But it was more of an ethical issue. The KPK will handle the criminal investigation," Yudi said as quoted by tempo.co.
KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said that the KPK and BPK will make a joint statement regarding the investigation on Friday.
