NATURAL DISASTER/ EARTHQUAKE - JAKARTA. The Indonesia disaster mitigation agency BNPB recorded that the death toll from the earthquake and tsunami that hit Palu and Donggala reached 384 people until Saturday (9/29) at 1:00 PM.
The number of missing people has been reported by 29 people and 540 people were injured.
"It is estimated that the number of victims will continue to increase because the search process will continue," said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, Spokesman for BNPB.
A tsunami hit Palu dand Donggala in Central Sulawesi on Friday evening. It was triggered by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that rocked the province at 5:02 p.m.
BNPB said, various buildings, from houses, shopping centers, hotels, hospitals, and other buildings collapsed partially or completely. It is estimated that tens to hundreds of people have not been evacuated from the ruins of buildings.
Many infrastructure projects collapsed. One of them is the Ponulele bridge that connects West and East Donggala. Likewise with the Trans Palu-Poso-Makassar route which is covered by landslides.
