Arsenal to visit Indonesia in summer

JAKARTA. Summer 2013 might be a joyous time for die-hard fans of British soccer club Arsenal in Indonesia, as the Gunners has revealed their plan to play a match in Jakarta.

The Gunners announced on their official website www.arsenal.com that the first-team squad would play in Indonesia during the Asian pre-season tour. Arsenal last visited Indonesia in 1983.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said that everyone in the club “is extremely excited to once again be visiting Asia and travelling to Indonesia for what will be the club’s first visit to the country in 30 years”.

"We know that Arsenal enjoys fantastic support in Indonesia and we are all looking forward to bringing the club closer to these loyal fans and learning more about the country’s rich heritage and culture,” he said.

The Arsenal match in Jakarta will be aired by Arsenal’s partners RCTI. Gazidis said that more details about the match would be revealed prior to the game.

Also on Thursday, Gazidis presented two personalized Arsenal shirts No. 1, with the name SBY on it, and No. 13, with the name Indonesia on it, to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during a gathering at the British Prime Minister David Cameron’s official residence at 10 Downing Street.(The Jakarta Post)
