NUSA DUA. As many as eight out of 21 leaders of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies arrived in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday to attend the 2013 APEC Summit, using business and military jets that will be parked at Ngurah Rai International Airport until the summit ends on Oct. 8.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto was the first leader to arrive in Bali, according to a press release by the APEC Summit organizing committee. The Mexican Air Force Zero jet carrying the president and delegates touched down at 2:30 p.m.

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill arrived at 4 p.m., 45 minutes before the Garuda Indonesia jet carrying the host, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, touched down.

Half an hour later, Chinese President Xi Jinping's Air China jet touched down followed by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who used a Gulfstream business jet, an hour later. The Singaporean prime minister usually uses commercial flights to go overseas.

That day, it was Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying who arrived on a commercial flight. He flew Cathay Pacific, the territory's international flag carrier, on flight number 785, which serves its Hong Kong - Denpasar route daily.

The Chilean president, who was scheduled to arrive at 10 p.m., was the eighth and last leader to arrive in Bali on Saturday.
