AP I targets to reap Rp 1.1 trillion profits

JAKARTA. Aside of aero business, PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) targets to increase the non-aero business revenues. To date, non-aero business has been the mainstay of the airport operator company.

Non-aero business has promising prospect, despite of the lower contributions than aero business. AP 1 targets non-aero business to give contribution up to 43%. Last year, non-aero business contribution was lower than 43%.

In other words, the target of non-aero business revenues will be Rp 3.3 trillion out of the revenues target of AP I that amounts to Rp 7.7 trillion. “We are targeting to reap as much as Rp 1.1 trillion profits in this year,” Corporate Secretary of AP I Israwadi told KONTAN, Monday (16/1).

The 2017 revenues target is 24.7% higher than the revenues of AP I in 2016. Israwadi said, non-aero business growth will be driven by the number of passengers and the number of plane’s traffic in every airport. AP 1 is trying to boost the performance of every airport.

AP I projects that the number of passengers will increase by 7.3% from 83.8 million passengers in the last year to 89.9 million passengers in 2017.

The increase in the number of passengers has directly impact to passenger service charge or airport tax. Management of AP 1 is optimistic that the number of passengers growth will be followed by the increase in the passengers’ spending. In other words, this will boost non-aero business.

Non-aero business of AP 1 includes services, cargo, property, land lease and concession. One of AP’s strategies to optimize the non-aero revenues is to lease the vacant lands, such as warehousing complex in Sunset Road, Bali, “This brings the optimum contributions,” said Israwadi. Aside of leasing the vacant lands, AP I also boosts the cargo business revenues.

For an example, Juanda Airport Surabaya is now developing cargo services. AP I manages the cargo business through PT Angkasa Pura Logistik (APL).

In order to increase the number of passengers, AP I will promote Juanda Airport (Surabaya) and Ngurah Rai (Bali) as the world class airports. Previously, Juanda Airport won the predicated of the most on-time airport in 2016.

Related to aero business development, AP I is constructing several airports in Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Banjarmasin. Meanwhile, the expansion of Ahmad Yani Airport (Semarang) will complete in 2018.

AP I sets as much as Rp 8.3 trillion capital expenditure to launch the business plans in this year. The funds will be derived from the internal cash, bank loans, or bonds issuance. The funds will be allocated under the multiyear scheme. “Those depend on the interest rate,” Israwadi said. (Muhammad Farid/Translator)
