JAKARTA. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested early on Saturday a Lion Air pilot, identified as S.S., at a hotel room in Surabaya, East Java, for allegedly using crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu-shabu.
“Yes, it is true. I have received the report on the pilot this morning,” BNN deputy Ins. Gen. Thomas Tommy Sagiman said.
S.S. was caught in his hotel room with 0.04 grams of crystal meth in his possession. A urine test indicated that he had also consumed the drug.
The arrest was the third such case within the last two months.
Earlier this month, a Lion Air pilot, identified as A, was caught with crystal methamphetamine in his possession in a karaoke bar in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Late last year, another Lion Air pilot Muhammad Nasri and two co-pilots were arrested at a drugs party in Tangerang, Banten.
Lion Air director for general affairs Edward Sirait could not be reached for comment. (swd/The Jakarta Post)
