DKI JAKARTA - JAKARTA. Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has appointed city-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) to manage three man-made islets in the Jakarta Bay.

The decision is stipulated in the recently issued Gubernatorial Regulation No. 120/2018.

“We will request that Jakpro develop a plan [for the islets] and present it to the city administration. Then we will work on it,” he said in East Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.

As stipulated in the regulation obtained by The Jakarta Post, Jakpro will manage islets C, D and G, which have been developed by private developers. The developer would have the right to plan on "Contribution Land", which is 5 percent of the islets' land allocated for public purposes, especially for a "coastal society".

The order for Jakpro is valid for 10 years and within that period Jakpro will have to build low-cost apartments, fish markets, seafood restaurants, worship facilities, a government office, harbor and/or other public facilities.

It was not clear in the regulation what would be the fate of the remaining 95 percent of the islets' land.

Anies said he would not be afraid if the developers sued him over his decision.

“People can sue over all the government's decisions ," he said.

Anies went on to say that Jakpro had only been assigned to make a plan so far. The city administration would enter discussions with the private developers once Jakpro had finished making the plan, he said.

PT Kapuk Naga Indah, a subsidiary of PT Agung Sedayu Grup, is the developer of islets C and D.

Islet G was built by PT Muara Wisesa Samudra, a subsidiary of PT Kencana Unggul Sukses, owned by PT Agung Podomoro Land.

Jakpro's scope of management, as stipulated in the decree, is in accordance with the urban design guidelines, and it is allowed to cooperate with other parties in providing infrastructure, facilities and utilities.
