BUSINESS AND TRADE - JAKARTA. The Indonesian government is taking action to address import licensing issues that have resulted in 26,000 containers being held up at ports. The hope is that this action will streamline the flow of incoming goods in the future.

Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, stated that President Joko Widodo has directed a revision of the import licensing obstacles about the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) number 36/2023. This regulation has been revised to Minister of Trade Regulation number 3/2024 and Minister of Trade number 7/2024, which was issued on March 10, 2024.
