Second e-ID card hearing probes budgeting aspects

JAKARTA. The second hearing in a graft trial on e-ID card procurement on Thursday heard witness testimonies.

“In the second hearing, we will dig into the budgeting aspects [of the e-ID card project]. Home Ministry witnesses presented by Corruption Eradication Commission [KPK] prosecutors are ready to testify,” KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said prior to the hearing.

Agus Martowardojo, who was scheduled to testify as then finance minister, failed to attend the hearing. He was one of eight witnesses scheduled to testify on Thursday.

Others scheduled to testify are former home minister Gamawan Fauzi, former ministry secretary-general Diah Anggraeni, former ministry population administration director general Rasyid Saleh and former ministry planning bureau head Yuswandi A. Temenggung.

The three other witnesses are Karsa Wira Utama director Winata Cahyadi, Finance Ministry director for fund stabilization Elvius Dailami and former House of Representatives home affairs commission head Chairuman Harahap.

Last Thursday, prosecutors read out the indictments against Irman and Sugiharto, two high-ranking Home Ministry officials implicated in the case. Febri said KPK prosecutors would present 133 witnesses in the trial.

The anti-graft body estimates state losses reached Rp 2.3 trillion (US$172.41 million) in the Rp 5.9 trillion procurement project.
