JAKARTA. Fans of legendary scary movies starring Indonesian horror queen Suzanna can expect to enjoy a remake of those films next year.
Helmed by director Anggy Umbara, the upcoming movie titled Suzanna is said to focus on one of the late actress's most popular films released in 1981, Sundelbolong.
"But I will also add other Suzanna films released in the 1980s and 1990s as references to enrich the movie," said Anggy on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The director did something similar with Warkop DKI Reborn, where he combined three legendary Warkop films, Setan Kredit ( 1981 ), IQ Jongkok ( 1981 ) and Chips 2 ( 1982 ) into one story.
Sundelbolong itself tells the story of a woman-turned-ghost who holds a grudge against people who caused her misfortune. The ghost is known to take the form of a long-haired woman in a white gown who has a hole in her back.
Produced by Soraya Intercine Films, Suzanna is currently in the pre-production phase. The filming is expected to start by the end of this year.
