TAX - Celebrity couple Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina ensured fans that they were not evading taxes and planned to pay them as soon as possible.
“As a good citizen, we must dutifully pay taxes,” Raffi Ahmad said in a video posted on his official Instagram account @raffinagita1717 on Wednesday, a day after Jakarta officials visited the couple’s house to collect tax arrears on 11 of their vehicles.
“If there are any taxes we haven’t paid until today, we will be processing the payment.”
Raffi and Nagita reportedly own several luxury vehicles, including a BMW, Ducati motorcycles and a Maserati GranTurismo.
The Jakarta administration has adopted an aggressive approach to taxes as they are targeting to collect Rp 35.2 trillion (US$2.63 billion) in tax revenue this year. However, the city has so far collected only Rp 20.6 trillion.
Tax officials have gone door-to-door to admonish rich residents, including celebrities, who have yet to pay various taxes.
