JAKARTA. The net profit of state lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) was almost unchanged at Rp 11.8 trillion in the first half of the year, slightly higher than Rp 11.72 trillion in the same period last year.
"Amid the flagging economy and pressure from global crisis, we posted an income of Rp 46.2 trillion or 19.5% higher with net profit at Rp 11.8 trillion," President Director of the country second largest bank in assets, Asmawi Syam said here on Friday (31/7).
Asmawi attributed the rise in earnings to 18.4% increase in interest income to Rp 39.9 trillion on-year.
Interest income contributed 86.4% to the total income of the publicly traded bank, he said.
Its non-interest income also surged 46.9% on-year to Rp 5.6 trillion, he added. Non interest income was dominated by fee-based income which grew 22.4% to Rp 3.5 trillion.
"The highest growth was recorded in e-banking transactions, which rose 80.4% to Rp 778.1 billion year on year," Asmawi said.
Its outstanding credits were recorded at Rp 503.6 trillion by the end of June 2015 or 9.7% higher in a year.
Credits for micro segment grew 15% to Rp 165.8 trillion, those in the retail segment up 11.8% to Rp 187.3 trillion .
Credits for medium segment slid 2.9% to Rp 18.9 trillion and corporate credit rose 2.8% to Rp 131.5 trillion.
