AirAsia Indonesia adds flights ahead of Idul Fitri

JAKARTA. Malaysia-based budget airline AirAsia Indonesia announced on Monday it would provide extra flights serving various domestic and international routes during this year’s Idul Fitri holiday period from July 9 to 28.

“The extra flights are aimed at accommodating increases in demands for flights for the Idul Fitri holiday season,” AirAsia Indonesia’s marketing director Andy Adrian Febryanto said.

He said as many as 90 extra flights, or 16,200 seats, would be provided for several routes. These included Jakarta-Bali, Bandung-Bali, Surakarta-Bali, Bandung-Pekanbaru, Jakarta-Yogyakarta and Medan-Penang and vice versa.

Andy went on to say that AirAsia customers from Jakarta who wished to travel to several domestic destinations could use its e-boarding pass facility to avoid long queues at check-in counters.

“They just need to download the AirAsia mobile application and then check in from their mobile phones, in which they will get an ‘e-boarding pass’,” he said, adding that all AirAsia customers could buy tickets on those extra flights starting from Monday.

AirAsia Indonesia says it has not implemented a single fleet policy by operating 29 aircraft, which are all Airbus A320s. The company operates 32 routes, 21 of which are international. (ebf)
