JAKARTA - JAKARTA. The Jakarta Police have become the first to adopt a non-cash payment system for the issuance and renewal of driver’s licenses as they have joined hands with ride-hailing app GoJek’s digital payment platform, GoPay.

The new system is part of efforts to improve public services through embracing technological developments, Jakarta Police traffic division director Sr. Comr. Yusuf said.

“We hope that this innovation will help us provide services that are fast, safe, easy and transparent, so that the public can also be more confident in conducting their activities and trust our public assistance,” Yusuf said on Monday.

Users can now simply open their GoJek app, select the “Pay” menu, scan the QR code available at the payment counter and enter the fee to obtain, upgrade or renew their licenses.

Initially, the non-cash payment will only be available at the Jakarta Police’s vehicle registration center (Satpas) in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta, before the system will be expanded to other areas and service outlets.

GoPay’s head of ecosystem expansion division Edwin Ariono said the company supported efforts to improve services that cater to the public for the sake of security and transparency.

“Hopefully, this non-cash transaction payment service can also help people in other regions in the future,” Edwin said.
