JAKARTA. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on his Cabinet members -- some of whom are also executives of various political parties -- to finish their tasks and deliver their best in the remaining 100 days of his administration.

“I hope the ministers and the Cabinet members return to [their] tasks and work actively in finishing [their] main duties,” Yudhoyono said while opening the Cabinet’s plenary meeting on Friday. Yudhoyono said he has ordered National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) head Armida Alisjahbana and Presidential Working Unit for the Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4) head Kuntoro Mangkusubroto to assess, choose and prepare between three and five top priorities for each ministry.

The President expects the pair to bring him the results of their assessments next Monday. In early June, Yudhoyono made a similar call, ordering his ministers to deliver their best in the remaining four-and-a-half months of his administration.

At that time, he went so far as to criticize 10 ministries -- including the Religious Affairs Ministry, which has been deemed one of the most corrupt government institutions -- for underperforming, ordering them to improve their performance before they leave office in October.
