Inflation rate stood at 0.27% in September: BPS

JAKARTA. The head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suryamin announced in Jakarta on Wednesday that the country's inflation rate throughout September 2014 stood at 0.27 percent.

In addition to that, inflation for the calendar year so far, from January-September 2014, stood at 3.71 percent and year-on-year inflation stood at 4.53 percent, Antara news agency reported.

"As many as 64 cities in the country experienced inflation while 18 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation rate was recorded in Pangkal Pinang [Bangka Belitung province] while the lowest one was in Gorontalo [Gorontalo province]," Suryamin said.

Meanwhile, he said the highest deflation rate was recorded in Tual, Maluku while Kudus, Central Java and Manado, North Sulawesi recorded the lowest deflation rate of 0.03 percent.

He said the rising price of processed food, cigarettes, beverages and tobacco contributed 0.51 percent to the inflation rate in September.

The price of water, electricity, gas and fuel also contributed to last month's inflation rate by as much as 0.77 percent.
