Travel bureaus ready to reap year-end profits

JAKARTA. Travel agencies have started preparing to capture the momentum of year-end holiday to reap profits. Understandably, the year-end holiday is the harvest season for the business sector.

Group Vice President of Marketing and Communication of Smailing Tours and Travel Service Putu Ayu Aristyadewi said that the travel bureau becomes more intensive in offering the travel packages to destinations that do not require a visa.

For example, to the South East Asia region. Meanwhile, the travel bureau had started marketing the packages to the destinations, which require visa, a few months ago. "Currently, we are taking care of visas for tourist groups," he told KONTAN, Friday (18/11).

For this year-end holiday season, most of Smailing Tour’s consumers preferred to take travel packages to Japan and South Korea. The demand is up 10% -15% from last year.

Putu predicted that the sales of Smailing’s travel packages will remain stagnant until the end of this year, except for the sales corporate tickets that have been risen by 18%-20% from the last year. Understandably, the company focuses more on serving the segment of enterprise market.

Meanwhile, PT Bayu Buana Tbk saw that the public’s interest in traveling in this year remains high. The company is hoping that the holiday season could contribute to 30% of this year's revenues target.

The travel bureau has been preparing for the holiday season since September 2016. “We have been conducted promotions and exhibitions since the beginning of September,” said the President Director of Bayu Buana Agustinus Pake Seko.

Meanwhile, Chief Marketing Officer of PT Panorama Tours Indonesia Fenny Maria claimed that all branch offices of the travel bureau have been promoting the year-end holiday since September 2016. The travel bureau also has been actively involving some exhibitions. Japan and Korea are the most favorite destinations. (Muhammad Farid/Translator)
