Only 25 areas receive single-fuel price program

PERTAMINA - JAKARTA. State-owned energy company Pertamina has said that the single-fuel price program can only be implemented in 25 areas by September from the targeted 54 areas by the end of 2017.

Pertamina communications manager Arya Dwi Paramita said that the company faced problems in implementing the government program, such as the lack of readiness of distributing agencies and the geographic challenges of remote areas and bad weather.

“We will continue to implement the government program,” he said on Monday.

The single-fuel price program was introduced by the administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to provide the same fuel prices across the country, namely Rp 5,150 (38 US cents) for subsidized diesel fuel (Solar) and Rp 6,450 for subsidized gasoline (Premium).

However, in certain areas where the program was implemented, such as Nias Island in North Sumatra, Seberut in West Sumatra, Raas in East Java and Labuhan Badas in West Nusa Tenggara, the price of Premium was reduced to about Rp 10,000 per liter.

In other areas, such as Long Apari in East Kalimantan, Amalatu in Maluku, Pania Barat in Papua, Danau Sembuluh in Central Kalimantan, Moswaren in West Papua, Kayoa Barat in North Maluku and Melonguane in North Sulawesi, the prices stayed at between Rp 11,000 and Rp 20,000.

In more remote areas, such as Krayan in North Kalimantan, and Puncak and Mambremo Raya, both in Papua, fuel prices reached up to Rp 100,000 per liter.
