JAKARTA. The wages calculation, including 2017 Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wages (UMP), always becomes hot issue. The meeting of Jakarta Wages Board on Wednesday (26/10) agreed on two options over 2017 UMP. However, the two options will be recommended to the Jakarta Governor to be set through governor regulation.
However, started from Friday (28/10), Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) has officially applied for unpaid leave related to local election.
Therefore, only one day left on Thursday (27/10) for the Governor to sign Governor Regulation on 2017 UMP. Otherwise, the governor’s tasks and authorities on governance will be shifted to the care taker of Governor of Jakarta.
As an information, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo had appointed Director General of Local Autonomy at Ministry of Home Affairs Soni Sumarsono as the care taker governor.
Member of Jakarta Wages Board Sarman Simanjorang expects that Ahok may sign the decision on 2017 Jakarta’s UMP before campaign leave. Government Regulation No 78/2015 on Wages stipulates that government has to make decision on UMP on 1 November of the year before the the enactment of the policy.
The meeting of Wages Board on Wednesday (26/10) recommended two options on 2017 UMP to Jakarta’s Governor. The Wages Board itself failed to reach an agreement on the 2017 UMP.
Two options
The two options included proposals from the representatives of labors and employers. The representatives of labors suggest for a 23% increase from 2016 UMP to Rp 3.83 million, while employers representatives suggested for a 8.25% increase from 2016 UMP to Rp 3.35 million.
The representatives of employers claimed to have referred to Government Regulation No 78/2015 on Wages in calculating the 2017 Jakarta’s UMP.
Head of Office of Manpower and Transmigration of Jakarta Priyono said that the Jakarta Government will set the 2017 Jakarta’s UMP in accordance with the existing regulations. He suggested to put aside political factor in determining the UMP.
