Jakarta minimum wages will be decided on Wednesday


JAKARTA. The third meeting of Jakarta Wages Board failed to agree on 2017 Jakarta provincial minimum wages. During the meeting on Monday (24/10), the representatives of labors and employers insisted on their respective proposals.

The representative of employers at Jakarta Wages Board Sarman Simanjorang said that he is disappointed of the deadlock, on the grounds that all technical regulations have provide clear mechanism on the provincial minimum wages. “We have agreed that the meeting on Wednesday (26/10) will be the last one”, said Sarman.

According to Sarman, employers have commitment to comply with the Government Regulation No 78/2015 on Wages to estimate the 2017 provincial minimum wages. In referring to the regulation, 2017 Jakarta provincial minimum wages will increase by 8.25% to IDR3.35 million compared to 2016.

Sarman also promised to convince all employers in Jakarta to implement the decisions about 2017 Jakarta provincial minimum wages.
Meanwhile, the representatives of labors demanded for an IDR3.83 million of Jakarta provinicial minimum wages.

“The estimation refers to the 60 proper life needs (KHL), which is stipulated under the Minister of Manpower Regulation No 13/2012”, said the representative of labors Mirah Sumirat.

Recently, Ministry of Manpower had circulated a letter, which is numbered SE No.B.175/MEN/PHIJSK-UPAH/X/2016 and dated on 17 October 2016 on the Delivery of Data on National Inflation Rate and Gross Domestic Product in 2016.

Minister of Home Affairs also released Circulation Letter No 500/3859/SJ on the result of Evaluation on the Implementation of 2106 Minimum Wages and the Arrangement on 2017 Minimum Wages. Minister of Home Affairs through the circulation letter stipulates that all governors are subject to announce the provincial minimum wages at the same time on 1 November 2015. The Minister also stipulates that all governors are subject to arrange provincial minimum wages in accordance with article 44 of Government Regulation No 78/2015.
